Kevin A. Ormsby
|
|
Kevin A. Ormsby has been dancing in Jamaica, Canada, and the United States for over twenty years. He is a recipient of scholarships to The Edna Manley School of the Performing Arts Scholarships in Dance and Drama, American Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival and holds a degree in Mass Communications and Political Science from York University. Has worked with Canboulay Dance Theatre, Caribbean Folk Performers, Caribbean Dance Theatre among others. His artistry have garnered three awards from The Jamaica Cultural Commission “National Festival of the Arts” (1992), Scarborough Board of Education “Excellence In Education" (1994) and Artistic Grant from the Canada Arts Council (2000). For six years, Kevin was a dancer with the internationally renowned, Garth Fagan Dance, NY, Garth Fagan is the choreographer for the Broadway Musical, “The Lion King”. Kevin appeared in more than 17 of the company’s choreographed works many of which toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Among its numerous success stories, Kevin returned to Toronto and Ballet Creole in summer 2006 in the position of not only dancer but also teaches in the Professional Training Program and is the company’s Marketing / Outreach Coordinator.

Monica del Rio
|
|
Monica has been dancing
professionally for over 8 years specializing in jazz, ballet, modern
and tap. She began her professional training at York University
and continued at Randolph School of the Performing Arts. Monica
is a veteran dancer with Ballet Creole and she continues to work
on other projects as well. Last summer she performed at Canada's
Wonderland and toured Western Canada.

Natassia Parson
|

Natassia Parson began dancing at the age of four and has been with Ballet Creole School since 1995. She has performed extensively with the Kids Creole company, at events such as Aids Walk Toronto, Jones and Jones Talent Competition, and Mandela and the Children where she performed for South African President, Nelson Mandela. In 2005 Natassia graduated from Kids Creole to the ranks of the professional company. Natassia is skilled in African, Caribbean,
Modern, Jazz, and Hip Hop dance forms. She also has TV experience, having worked for the TVO kids program STUFF, for two years. A graduate of Etobicoke School of the Arts where she majored in dance, Natassia plans include attending University to study Mass Communications.

Sharon Harvey

Sharon Harvey is proud to be a part of the rich and diverse cultures this country has to offer. As a Dance Artist, Sharon has been exposed to many styles of dance. These styles range from Classical Ballet, Jazz, South Indian, and Chinese to traditional African dance and ground breaking Hip Hop. She is a Pilates instructor and is also a licensed instructor of a new and exciting core conditioning program called BalleCore. Sharon’s passion for dance has further embarked her on a new venture in training and development of a body conditioning system which promotes strength, suppleness, and longevity of a dancer’s instrument. Canadian dance today needs strong versatile dancers to represent what this diverse culture has to offer internationally. Sharon’s desire is to provide Canadian dancers the tools to condition their bodies to perform on the world stage.

Marc Hall

Marc Hall was born in Kingston, Jamaica and his passion with the Performing Arts began at seventeen years old when he decided to join Little People and the Teen Players Club. He later attended the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. He has also danced with the National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica where he toured throughout the UK, USA and Caribbean. In 2002, he received a scholarship to attend the London Studio Center where he studied in the B.A. honours program for three years. He has been a cast member of the London cast of the Broadway musical “The Lion King” and consequently dance in London with Sankofa Dance Theatre. This is his first season with Ballet Creole.

Sean Smith

Born in Vancouver, Sean Smith has been dancing since the age of six doing, tap, jazz, ballet, and modern dance. Upon invitation to train with Toronto Dance Theatre he recently moved to Toronto and since then has performed with Zata Omm Dance Projects at the Dance Ontario Showcase. He has performed with the Alberta Ballet in Jean Grand Maitre’s “Romeo and Juliet”, excerpts of John Alleyne’s “Camina Burana” with the Ballet British Columbia, George Balanchine’s “Serenade” and has worked with many other choreographers including William Yong, Shannon Moreno, Brian McDonald and Farley Johannsen. He is very excited to be performing with Ballet Creole for the first time.

Yuhala Muy was born in Havana, Cuba. In addition, started her journey as an artist with National School of Rhythmic Gymnastic. In 1997, I she auditioned for the National School of Arts in Havana where she began formal dance training. She has performed in numerous festivals of dance including the 14th International festival of the students among others. Yuhala has participated in many workshops and has done choreographies by international acclaimed teachers. Notable mentions include: Santiago Alfonzo - Director of Tropicana de Cuba and Alberto Mendez - Choreographer of the National Ballet of Cuba.
Ms. Muy was a part of the 2-year Pre- Professional Training Program at Ballet Creole School of Performing Arts and after being a company apprentice, she subsequently was invited to join the company. She has also demonstrated for the company in workshops abroad.

Gabriella Parson is a talented dancer who has studied dance at The Etobicoke School of Arts and Ryerson University. She has also studied dance under the direction of Patrick Parson, and continues to do so. Gabby has been performing with, Kids Creole ensemble since its inception. Her talents have been showcased on TV Ontario programming on several occasions. Gabby’s is also musically talented and she sometimes shifts her artistic direction from dance, to African drumming. She has performed in such events as Caribana, Kick up Your Heels, and continues to perform throughout Ontario. She is currently finishing her studies in Massage Therapy.

Ingrid Diaz

Ingrid Diaz was born in Cuba and studied dance from an early age. Her technical background is expansive and range from ballet, modern dance to Afro-Cuban. She completed her formal training at the National School of Arts, Havana, Cuba where she earned her BFA in Modern, Contemporary and Afro Cuban Dance. She has performed with Danzart, Vocational School of Dance Eduardo Saborit and the National Afro - Cuban Dance Company and has taught in Cuba and Canada. Ingrid came to Ballet Creole as part of the Pre Professional Training Program in September 2005 and was invited to be a company apprentice. She has since been invited to become a company member.

Delton Frank

Delton Frank started dancing in 1988 with the North West Laventille Cultural Movement and then with the LaChapelle Dance Co.& the Caribbean School of Dance. Tours include; Europe, U.S.A and throughout the Caribbean. Awards include; Best male Dancer of Trinidad and Tobago at the Prime Minister, Best village Trophy Competition in 1996-2000.He is presently a member of the Joyfour Dance Co. of Trinidad and Tobago, The Caribbean School of Dance and the North West Cultural Movement. He is currently training in Ballet, Jazz, Traditional folk and Modern Dancing. Mr. Frank has been a guest artist with Ballet Creole for a number of years since 1998.

Camesha McIntosh

After working in education and the arts, Camesha came to Ballet Creole in fall of 2005 to continue her professional training in Dance studies. She is a graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts (School of Dance) and the University of the West Indies Continuing Studies in Jamaica. Camesha intends to continue her training with Ryerson University in the future. She has performed both locally and internationally with dance groups in Canada and Jamaica. This year, she performed with The Children’s Dance Theater and with Ballet Creole School of the Performing Arts at the International Association of Blacks in Dance.

Darcel Frederick
|
|
Darcel was born in St.Vincent, and raised in St.Lucia. She began dancing at age 6 in Antigua. At age 9, she joined Les Enfants Dance Troupe in Saint Lucia and in March 2000 became a founding member of St.Lucia Dance Theatre Company. She has done summer workshops at L'ecole de Dance in Guadeloupe, Edna Manley School of Dance in Jamaica, and most recently completed the summer intensive workshop at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York. Currently she is a second year dance major at York Univercity and this is her first year performing with Ballet Creole as a guest dancer.
