Ballet Creole School offers recreational classes for children, youth and adults.
In this unique and nurturing environment, everyone with the aspiration to dance
can do so in a challenging yet fun and educational setting.
FALL 2014 CLASSES

Classes with an asterix * are taught by Artistic Director, Patrick Parson.
Children's Contemporary Afro-Caribbean Dance
*Ages 5-7 - Saturday 10am-10:45am
Students learn dance basics: warm-up exercises, stretches, coordination, body isolations, leg work, and floor exercises. The fundamentals of West African and Caribbean movement are taught.
Ages 8-10 - Saturday 10am-11am
Students expand dance technique: barre work, centre exercises and routines, across the floor routines. Students receive further instruction on technique and movement vocabulary from West Africa and the Caribbean.
Youth Contemporary Afro-Caribbean Dance
Beginner - Saturday 12:30pm - 2pm
A class for youth with little to no former dance training. The class will teach the dance fundamentals and introduce students to formal contemporary dance training exercises from various techniques. Students will also learn West African and Caribbean dance vocabulary.
Intermediate/Advanced - Saturday 12:30pm-2pm (based on enrollment):
For youth with prior dance training. Students will learn Dunham Technique exercises, with elements of Jazz and Afro-Caribbean movement vocabulary. Students in this class will learn more complicated and intense routines and demonstrate a high level of memorization and performance skill.
Adult Contemporary Afro-Caribbean Dance
This class is open to participants of varied dance backgrounds and experience. Fun and challenging, this program offers adults a dynamic dance class with warm-up exercises, centre routines, and across the floor combinations in contemporary techniques and Afro-Caribbean dance styles.
Afro-Caribbean Drumming and Percussion
A fun-filled class you can take with your entire family! Instruction in some of the popular traditional rhythms from Africa and the Caribbean. Students learn proper drumming terms and techniques, sound recognition, origins of the rhythms, and call and response chants. Ages 5+.
Drum rentals available with advance registration. Drop-in classes available only for participants with their own instrument.
