All artists need their patrons. Your investment is essential. It literally makes art happen, and it also makes the statement that you believe that art is important and that it makes a difference in your life. A vibrant city is identified as such by its thriving community of artists that entertain, inform and inspire through their various art forms.
Although we recognize that artists enliven cities, the average salary earned by dancers from all dance-related income is $18,000 per year – a meagre sum for a group that has trained for at least 10 years. Other professionals who have trained as long and as hard – such as doctors, lawyers and engineers – can easily command six-figure salaries. Dancers take physical risks on a daily basis and have little or no job security, as most are self-employed. Illness, injury and financial problems can all challenge an artist’s ability to continue producing their art.
